Games Global is set to acquire Quickfire, online casino games, and progressive jackpot networks from Microgaming in 2022.
One of the largest and most successful software providers in the iGaming industry, Microgaming , has agreed to sell its Quickfire distribution business. The purchase of the Quickfire platform, portfolio of online casino games, and the progressive jackpot networks (such as Mega Moolah and WowPot) are being referred to as the “Microgaming Acquisition”.
Games Global, a new company backed by private capital, that launched in early 2021, will be acquiring the Quickfire platform from Microgaming .
Quickfire set to change hands
Currently, the sale of Quickfire has been agreed to in principle and is set to become official in Q2 of 2022. The success of the deal hinges on whether or not Games Global will be able to receive certain regulatory approvals and licenses.
Once it’s official, Games Global will receive the international distribution rights to the exclusive content created by Microgaming. It will also receive an extensive customer base of more than 900 gaming brands that operate around the world.
“This is an exciting deal that has been in the making for some time and which will provide new growth and opportunity for both Microgaming and Games Global. We are announcing it now to provide sufficient notice and clarity for our partners and stakeholders,” said John Coleman, CEO of Microgaming.
“Games Global will acquire the game IP and distribution business previously known as Quickfire, and Microgaming will continue to support its core traditional business while increasing its reach with the addition of new business and managed services,” continued Coleman.
Games Global in charge
Games Global is currently in the capable hands of CEO Walter Bungo. The former IGT and Lottomatica CEO is joined by CFO Tim Mickley, who previously held a top position at SafeCharge and Playtech.
While Games Global may be brand-new to the industry, those behind the helm of the company already have many years of experience.
“We are seeing a very vibrant gaming market at present across the world, with many new regulated markets coming online. The creation of a new large-scale independent supply chain that Games Global will be, has not been witnessed for many years,” commented CEO Walter Bungo.
“We are committed to delivering a world-class best-of-breed product and services offering that will ultimately enhance the end user’s gaming experience and help drive our customers’ businesses. We are extremely excited about the opportunities ahead and will work tirelessly to achieve the significant opportunities in front of us,” continued Bungo.
The future of Games Global
In an interview about the future of the company, Bungo shared an insightful look into the brand-new company and where they plan to go from here.
As a fresh face on the iGaming market, many wondered who Games Global was and what they intended to do with Quickfire once they acquired it.
Once they’ve completed the acquisition of Quickfire, Games Global will have 34 studio networks on 5 continents, along with 980 gaming brands and more than 3000 game titles under its belt.
With so many resources to work with, it’s no surprise that Games Global intends to stand out from the crowd. Bungo shared that the philosophy of the company is “grounded in innovation and the consistent challenge of ‘what could be’”.
For now, Games Global will be focusing on existing markets with an established player base while keeping a keen eye on new markets as they open. The aim is to provide new and existing companies with “first-to-market products” and innovative content.
Finally, Bungo shared that while the company has already launched, ICE 2022 will be their true welcome to the world . Games Global already has more than 1100 employees around the world and they plan to build on their growth worldwide as quickly as possible.
