Stablecoin casino gambling is overtaking Bitcoin betting. Here's why players now prefer USDT and USDC. See which one suits your play.
Stablecoin casino gambling is now overtaking Bitcoin betting among crypto casino players. It's no surprise, as stablecoins are tied to the US dollar, so your balance doesn't swing with the market. Just keep in mind that pegged doesn't mean guaranteed. USDT is popular for its low fees and wide acceptance, and USDC for its transparency.
Crypto gambling's drive towards market stability
Stablecoins have become the go-to option for online casino players and now account for most crypto casino deposits.
Bitcoin, meanwhile, is falling behind in crypto gambling. Its volatility is one of the main reasons it has become less attractive for everyday deposits.
Bitcoin's all-time high was around $126,000, reached in October 2025. By September 2026, it had dropped to around $81,000, more than a third below that peak.
Players prefer predictable value when it comes to cashing out their wins. Stablecoins suit online crypto casino gameplay as they are pegged to the US dollar, so the value of a balance doesn't move with the market during play. This gives players peace of mind, although a stablecoin is stable rather than guaranteed. In March 2023, USDC briefly fell to around $0.88 before recovering.
The shift to USDT
Tether, or USDT, is currently the dominant stablecoin in the gambling sector. It's widely available across exchanges and wallets. On top of that, it has low transaction fees, especially on the Tron network, which makes it an ideal choice for more casual players.
Under the EU's MiCA rules, Coinbaserestricted USDT for EU users in December 2024, and Binance did the same in 2025. If you play from the EU, that makes USDT harder to get hold of, even where casinos still accept it.
USDT makes up a large share of stablecoin deposits at crypto casinos, so it's a widely accepted default currency if you play at more than one site.
USDT transfers on the Tron network usually settle in around 90 seconds, so players wait less for their winnings once a withdrawal is approved.
High rollers and USDC
While USDT suits the everyday player, high rollers prefer using USDC.
The primary reasons for its popularity are regulatory compliance and transparency. It comes with audited reserves and backing from major financial institutions. This instils trust in players who wish to wager larger amounts.
USDC is also fully authorised under the EU's MiCA rules, which gives it an edge over USDT for EU players.
Bitcoin's decline at crypto casinos
Bitcoin has been a popular method, but it's losing ground. According to SOFTSWISS, Bitcoin's share of crypto gambling bets fell by around 17 percentage points in 2024, and most of that went to stablecoins.
The main reasons for the decline are the high transaction fees and longer confirmation times. Then there's the volatility of the coin, which makes it a risk for players, as a balance can lose value between deposit and cashout.
Ethereum is going the same way, with more players moving their casino deposits from ETH to cheaper networks.
A new reality for online crypto casinos
Casino operators have quickly adapted to the shift, with many now offering USDT and USDC as their default payment options.
Some operators have also started incentivising stablecoin use by offering players lower withdrawal fees or faster processing times.
What to know about stablecoin casino gambling
What started as a niche experiment with digital currency has become an everyday payment method at some of the best online casinos.
Before you make the move and deposit, check what's available in your region and which networks your casino supports. Funds sent on the wrong one can be lost. Withdrawal fees can also vary between networks, so it's wise to compare them before you cash out. If low fees matter most, go with USDT. If you want more transparency, USDC is the better fit.
