    Aside from the impressive list of licensed operators, the market has quickly become known as one of the most competitive iGaming markets in North America, boasting over 1.6 million active players.

    The last two years have certainly been a whirlwind of developments for the market. In 2023 alone, Ontario added Paysafe's upgraded Skrill digital wallet as an innovative payment method. Then, it went on to ban the use of celebrities and other role models in gaming advertisements.

    All while expanding by the minute. Actions like these are proof of the regulator's dedication to protecting players and their well-being online.

    Advancements in technology

    Evolution has been one of the leading players in the live dealer sector, providing local players with a wide range of live casino games to choose from.

    More than just an exciting range of live casino games, the Ontario gaming market has become popular for its diverse range of games, which covers everything from online slots and table games to sports betting options.

    The economy and regulatory developments

    It’s safe to say that the industry has experienced substantial revenue growth. In its second year, the market has seen a total of $63 billion in wagers. The popularity of the iGaming market has also led to the creation of thousands of jobs, which in turn boosts the local economy.

    Several regulatory developments have also occurred, which, of course, include stronger consumer protection measures such as a centralised self-exclusion system. iGaming Ontario is doing this to increase responsible gambling. In addition, strict regulations are in place to ensure fair play, and customer protection remains a priority.

    SkillOnNet extended 1x2 Network partnership in Ontario

    The global gaming brand SkillOnNet has unleashed content from reputable game developers into Ontario. This includes titles from Iron Dog Studio, Prospect Gaming, Ad Lunam, and 1x2 Gaming. All this is done under the umbrella of 1x2 Network UK.

    For Ontarians, there are now plenty of games to enjoy via the unique portfolio of 1x2 Network, which includes casinos like SlotsMagic, KnightsSlots, PlayOJO, and SpinGenie.

    Some popular new releases also made available to Ontarians include the new Arriba Heat Series, Mr. Poky Banker, and Prospector Wilds series. Classics like Megaways, Jack Aztec Secrets, and Book of Merlin are also ready to be enjoyed.

    1x2 Network and SkillOnNet are already partners, and this deal is simply an extension of their already successful relationship. With this partnership, 1x2 Network’s presence in Ontario is also extended.

    Both parties are benefiting from the partnership and have expressed their joy in having the option to grow their presence and reach a wider audience in new regulated markets together.

    What the future holds

    According to the stats and industry experts, the market is expected to see a slowdown in growth. While it’s not a massive slowdown or complete halt, the influx has decreased.

    At the same time, continuous growth is expected to ultimately lead to the creation of around 22,000 full-time jobs and a $4.7 billion annual contribution to the GDP by 2031.

    It’s a dynamic market that keeps evolving and benefits regulated operators and local players.
