Hi there, I'm Pete! The one who thinks a page isn't finished until you can read it once and get it. Years of casino copywriting taught me all the tricks for dressing a page up. Now I mostly use them to strip it back.
Read CasinoWow's exclusive talk with Wazdan about their new game Throne of Elements™: Platinum. Learn about its Guardian mechanic and more.
Most bonus rounds are a door. A mini-game of their own. You spin, a mechanic triggers, the feature happens, and that's it.
Throne of Elements™: Platinum works differently. Wazdan released it on 2 September 2026 with four Guardian symbols sitting across the middle row. Each one that lands stays put and opens more of the game area until all 25 positions are in play.
Collecting all four is one of two routes into Hold the Jackpot™, where the ladder runs from a 10x Mini through a 20x Minor and 50x Major to a Grand capped at 2,500x the bet.
Curious to learn more, we asked Wazdan how the Guardian mechanic works. They told us why the build-up matters as much as the bonus round, and whether 2,500x is a hard ceiling.
We asked, Wazdan answered: Norbert Grono speaks with CasinoWow
Throne of Elements™: Platinum by Wazdan
CW: Hold the Jackpot™ has been a long-standing mechanic across Wazdan’s portfolio. What does this release bring that is new compared with previous titles?
With Throne of Elements™: Platinum, we wanted to take the familiar Hold the Jackpot™ mechanic and build a stronger sense of progression around it. Rather than treating the bonus as a standalone event, the game gradually expands as Guardian symbols unlock additional reel positions. Players can reach Hold the Jackpot™ through the central reel or by completing the Guardian collection, so the journey towards the feature becomes part of the gameplay itself.
Once the bonus begins, sticky Cash Infinity™ symbols, respins and Mystery transformations keep that progression moving across the full 25-reel area. It gives a well-established mechanic a different rhythm and makes the build-up to the bonus just as important as the feature itself.
CW: How do the Guardian symbols unlock the reels, and how many are needed to open all 25?
There are four dedicated Guardian positions across the middle row, surrounding the central reel. Each Guardian that lands remains in place and activates the corresponding locked reel positions, progressively opening more of the game area.
There are 12 locked positions in total, and collecting all four Guardians unlocks the complete 25-reel grid. Completing that set also provides one of the routes into the Hold the Jackpot™ Bonus Game, so every new Guardian represents a very clear step towards the feature.
CW: What is the full jackpot ladder in terms of bet multipliers, and is 2,500x a hard cap on the total win?
The jackpot ladder starts with the Mini at 10x the bet, followed by the Minor at 20x and the Major at 50x, with the Grand Jackpot offering 2,500x.
The 2,500x Grand is also the game’s maximum win. It can be awarded by filling all 25 positions with game symbols or through a Grand Mystery transformation. Once the Grand is hit, the other accumulated values on the grid are not added on top, so 2,500x remains the hard cap for the total win.
CW: How does the expanding game area influence the flow of the bonus round and help build excitement with each successive spin?
The expanding area gives players a very visible sense of progress. Instead of starting with the full grid immediately available, additional positions are activated as Guardians land, so the game space itself evolves as the round develops.
That progression becomes particularly important once Hold the Jackpot™ is active. More available positions mean more space for sticky symbols and further opportunities to build the final result, while each new symbol can extend the sequence through the respin mechanic. The player can see the grid gradually filling and the remaining space becoming more valuable, which naturally increases the tension as the round continues.
CW: From the product team’s perspective, what is the key feature that sets Throne of Elements™: Platinum apart from other games featuring Hold the Jackpot™?
For us, the key differentiator is how closely the entire game is built around progression. Hold the Jackpot™ is not simply a bonus that appears after a trigger; the journey towards it begins earlier, with Guardians unlocking the grid and creating a clear sense that the game is developing from one spin to the next.
That connection between the Guardian mechanic, the expanding 25-reel area and the sticky value symbols gives the title its own identity within our Hold the Jackpot™ portfolio. We are always looking at how we can refine proven mechanics for each individual release, and here the focus was on making progression itself a central part of the experience.
What makes Throne of Elements™: Platinum different
So what separates the latest addition to the Hold the Jackpot™ collection from the rest? It's the tension, and where it hits the player. The bonus itself is familiar, built on sticky Cash Infinity™ symbols, respins and Mystery transformations. The difference is the gradual build. The grid can start expanding from the very first spin, and each new Guardian creates more room to fill once the bonus starts. The more the grid fills, the more the empty positions are worth.
Mind you, 2,500x is the max you can win in the game. It is not a jackpot that stacks on top of anything else. Filling all 25 positions and landing a Grand Mystery transformation pays exactly the same.
With a four-tier ladder, this one belongs with the jackpot slots rather than the straight video reels. You'll find it at online casinos carrying Wazdan's portfolio, but give the demo a go first. It's always the wisest thing to do.
