Inside Blazing Bison UNLEASHED by Fortune Factory Studios

CasinoWow talks with Levon Demurchyan about the Blazing Bison UNLEASHED slot and what's next from Fortune Factory Studios in an exclusive interview.

The bison theme is one of the most popular in online slots, and Fortune Factory Studios already has several Blazing Bison™ titles. The newest one takes a different approach, keeping the stampede while changing what the Bison do once they land.

Blazing Bison UNLEASHED™ was released in August 2026. It's a game with 1,024 ways to win, where full stacks of Bison merge into full-reel symbols. When those reels land side by side, their multipliers compound and can go up to 16,128x.

To learn more about the game, we spoke with Levon Demurchyan, who explained how the Bison mechanic was built and why the Bonus Collect Meter has two ways to fill.

Blazing Bison UNLEASHED™ by Fortune Factory Studios

CW: This isn’t the first Blazing Bison™ release; can you start us off by explaining to CasinoWow readers what it is that makes Blazing Bison UNLEASHED™ different from its predecessors?

With Blazing Bison UNLEASHED™, we wanted to take the energy of the brand and its high pay symbol dynamic and push it much further through mechanics that can build and interact with one another. Full stacks of Bison can now combine into full-reel symbols with multipliers. Adjacent full reels can merge and compound those multipliers across multiple reels, up to 16,128x!

We've also added a unique Bonus Collect Meter in the base game that can ignite bonus play. Upon entry, a vertical Bonus Wheel awards a highly variable mix of bonus spins, additional Bison symbols, and Expanding Wild Multiplier Symbols that can combine with expanded Bison stacks for exciting multiplier potential. There's also a Retrigger Collect Meter and a Jackpot Match mechanic in play during Bonus Spins. The result is a much more layered experience where the sense of momentum can grow as more elements come into play.

CW: Full stacks of Bison can merge into full-reel symbols, with adjacent stacks expanding and compounding their multipliers; can you talk us through how this mechanic works and what win potential it can unlock?

Whenever a full stack of four Bison land on a reel, it combines and expands into a full-reel Bison symbol and receives a random multiplier dependent on which reel is covered, up to 8x. If another full stack lands directly alongside it, that stack also expands, merges with the first, and awards a random multiplier that compounds with the first.

That process can continue across all five reels, so there is lots to enjoy as symbols stack, combine and multipliers grow. At the upper end, five full stacks can combine into one massive, expanded symbol with a total compounded multiplier of up to x16,128. It gives the mechanic a very visible feeling of escalation.

CW: Revolver Cylinder symbols feed a Bonus Collect Meter but can also fill it instantly on any qualifying spin; why was it important to offer two different methods to fill this meter?

We wanted the Bonus Collect Meter to add an engaging layer to the base game without making the route into the feature feel entirely predictable. The bullets from the Revolver Cylinder symbols steadily feed the meter, creating a visible sense of build-up over time.

At the same time, whenever a bullet is fired into the meter, there is also the possibility of it filling instantly and awarding the Bonus. Combining those two routes means the meter creates an engaging gameplay dynamic, while still retaining the possibility of a sudden change in momentum.

CW: The Bonus Wheel separately determines the number of spins and how many additional Bison and Expanding Multiplier Wilds enter the feature. What benefits do you feel adding a Bonus Wheel brings to the overall experience?

The Bonus Wheel gives the feature its own moment before the Bonus Spins begin. Rather than simply moving straight from the activation into a fixed setup, three independent vertical strips determine the number of spins as well as how many additional Bison and Expanding Multiplier Wild symbols are added to the Bonus reels.

That means the shape of the feature is configured visibly before play begins. With between 8 and 15 spins available, alongside up to 250 additional Bison symbols and up to 50 additional Expanding Wild Multiplier symbols, the wheel helps make the transition into the bonus feel like an event in itself - with so many possible combinations, every feature feels distinct.

CW: During Bonus Spins, Expanding Multiplier Wilds can compound with adjacent full-reel Bison symbols while the Retrigger and Jackpot Flare meters remain active; how did you ensure these layered mechanics feel connected rather than separate?

A big part of the design was making sure the mechanics all contribute to the same sense of escalation. The Expanding Multiplier Wilds use the same full-reel and compounding logic as the Bison, so when they connect with adjacent full-reel Bison symbols, those elements naturally become part of one larger mechanic rather than feeling isolated.

Around that core action, the Retrigger Meter offers the possibility of bonus extension with five additional spins each time it fills. We adopted the same collection paradigm from the base game, where each bullet increases the meter but can also instantly award the retrigger. The jackpot symbols are similar but presented a little differently, each directly filling just one slot under one of the four Jackpot meters. So, although there are several things happening, they all support the same idea: as the feature develops, there are multiple ways for the experience to keep building.

CW: The audio and visuals intensify as the Bison herd grows across the reels; from a design perspective how important was it to ensure the game builds in energy and momentum as the feature develops?

It was very important because the presentation needs to communicate what the mechanics are doing, not simply sit alongside them. When Bison begin expanding across the reels and multipliers start compounding, we wanted the audiovisual experience to reflect that escalation immediately - the energy of the Bison herd gaining speed.

The increasing audio and visual intensity help reinforce that forward momentum. As the herd grows, the game responds with more energy, so the presentation and mechanics move in the same direction. That helps make those larger full-reel combinations feel more immediate and gives the whole experience a stronger sense of momentum.

CW: Looking beyond Blazing Bison UNLEASHED™, what can CasinoWow’s readers look forward to next from Fortune Factory Studios?

We’re always looking at how we can build engaging experiences around strong themes and mechanics that give each game its own identity. Blazing Bison UNLEASHED™ is a good example of how we can take an established concept and find new ways to expand its feature set. You can certainly count on more Blazing Bison™ titles as well as key releases in the Gold Blitz™ series in the near future.

The game's here, but what's next?

Levon's answers show that much of the game runs on the same two rules. Bison and Expanding Multiplier Wilds both fill reels and compound with their neighbours, and the Bonus, Retrigger and Jackpot meters all fill through collection. That's a lot to follow on the first few spins, but once you understand one reel feature and one meter, the others follow the same pattern.
